Robin Whittle's Show-and-Tell - Corsetry 1 Page 2

Back to the Show and Tell page for various items of eclectic interest such as a 1913 colour photograph of a demure young woman and two photos of the Sun Beachgirl Quest circa 1950.

Back to the First Principles page http://www.firstpr.com.au - where you can read of many technical, consumer advocacy things, but also some non-intellectual, aesthetic delights such as my 21 metre Sliiiiiiiiiinky and some photos from a trance techno dance-party in the forest.

2 - Dita von Teese

The international pinup, glamour and fetish model has her own website: http://www.dita.net .

Here are some pictures of this delicious-looking woman - kindly supplied by Thies at Victorian Corsets  http://www.VictorianCorsets.de .  He tells me these are scans from a magazine.

Kids - don't try this at home!!  I think the thinness of Dita's waist in these pictures is way beyond what is healthy and most attractive. Fine women: don't feel like you need to go this far to tease or enthral men such as me!  Its a treat that woman wants to wear a corset, shapely and slinky girdle, lovely dress, yummy top and the like.  So much the better if she actually does wear these sensual items!  But, at least for me and other like-minded men, don't think you have to attain some particular extraordinary shape in order to thrill or seriously distract us.  Dita's physical embodiment is a treat, but so are the bodies of many women of different shapes.  The biggest thrill for me is a woman who loves being a woman and makes the most of herself in every respect - her voice, her writing, her hair, her skin, her fragrance, her clothing, underclothing and in all her creative, generous and fun pursuits.

3 - The Golden Age of (Australian) Corsetry by D.A. Cooke

There was a file, evidently scanned from a catalogue, detailing some history of corsetry in Australia at: http://www.xts.net/lvtgw/Info_htm/General/corset1.htm .  However, this file disappeared.  Here is a partially cleaned-up version of this file The Golden Age of Corsetry by D.A. Cooke: corset1-d-a-cooke.html  It discusses various forms of girdle and bra, and lists specific products of the manufacturers: Berlei, Corlasto and Formfit.

4 - Brassieres: An Engineering Miracle

This is an article by Edward Nanas from Science and Mechanics, February, 1964, includes engineering principles and formulae for volumetric determination of cup size.  It used to be at http://www.ruralamerica.net/~aster/boudoir/overflow/engineer.html but that server does not exist in August 2001, so I have archived the article in a directory here: nanas/engineer.html
